About us.
In 2014, Miguel discovered his passion for craft beer while drinking beers at a small brewery, nestled in the historic old town of Quito, Ecuador. What started as casual nights out soon transformed into a deeper appreciation for craft beer's intricacies. One evening, while chatting with a friend about the limited availability of quality beer in the city, a plan was hatched to open their own craft beer bar. Fueled by enthusiasm, Miguel swiftly secured his first business loan, and his friend found the perfect location. By 2015, they proudly opened the doors to one of Ecuador’s finest craft beer bars.
During this exciting period, Miguel met Andrea, who shared his growing passion for beer. Together, their love for learning about beer flourished. Surrounded by brewers, they delved deeper into the brewing process, frequently visiting local breweries. Miguel, leaving his career in sound and acoustics engineering, dedicated himself fully to managing their two beer bar locations. Andrea, captivated by the vibrant beer culture, joined him in their first brewing project, producing beer on a 200 litre system. They experimented with their favourite styles, such as west coast IPAs, hopped lagers and hazy beer, embracing the brewing journey wholeheartedly.
In 2019 they embarked on a new adventure, moving to the West Coast of Canada. Miguel and Andrea sold their stake in the bars as well as their little brewery, using the proceeds to study brewing in British Columbia. Vancouver was the perfect fit for Andrea as well, enabling her to advance her career as a sound designer.
By 2024, they decided to reignite their brewing dreams, leading to the birth of Changing Colours Brewing Project. A venture 100% independent, self-funded, and intentional. As Miguel put it, "We are here to make great beer that we want to drink and share it to people who truly appreciate the art of craft brewing." Miguel continues to run the operations at a local brewery while renting tank space to brew their own beers. "We are happy to be building something as a part of our journey here," says Andrea. "We do this because it is what we want and how we want to express our ideas.".
With their project up and running and headquartered in the Metro Vancouver area, Miguel and Andrea see this as a prime opportunity to further their brewing journey. "It's true, we don't have our own brick-and-mortar brewery yet," Miguel admits, "but we've always dreamed of brewing without borders."
Their vision is not just about making beer but about collaborating with artists, with brewers being a significant part of this creative tapestry. "Brewing in Vancouver, New York, London, Japan or South America, this is what makes our journey so exciting, and we can't wait to throw hops into an overseas kettle!"

OUR VALUES

Two souls who’ve navigated life’s wildest twists, crossing borders and starting from zero. Changing Colours Brewing Project is the pulse of that journey, born from the grit of reinvention and the raw truth that life never stands still.
Our beers? They’re more than just drinks, they’re snapshots of life’s chaotic beauty. We brew with the belief that every moment, every experience is a colour, shifting and evolving as we do. We don’t see things in black and white; we see life through a spectrum that’s constantly in motion.
With roots that span cultures, we’re here to celebrate the ever-changing palette of existence. Our lens? It’s sharp, introspective, and always on the move. We embrace the fleeting, the bold, and the in-between, because that’s where life really happens.
So, as we dive into this punk rock show, know that we’re bringing our full spectrum. Here’s to the colours of life, lived loud, raw, and unapologetically real.
Changing Colours Brewing Project is an open-minded brewery, committed to inclusivity and collaborating with artists across various fields, including music, film, sports, architecture, design or any shape or form of art.
